FPU's® surface is composed of closely packed trifluoromethyl groups and exhibits the lowest surface energy known, 6 MJ/m2. FPU® exhibits not only the hardness and toughness of conventional polyurethane coatings but also the low surface energy and easy cleanability of PTFE.
The coating demonstrates excellent color and gloss stability and resistance to weather, graffiti and corrosion. Clear coatings in low-sheen, semi-gloss, or gloss finishes are available with FPU® and custom colors are easily blended without difficulty.
FPU® Demonstrates Excellent Physical Properties
Impervious to moisture and oxygen permeation
Osmotic Barrier for Immersion Applications
Superior Adhesion and self-priming properties
Highly Flexible and free from embrittlement
Graffiti release properties make clean up easy
UV Insensitive - enhanced color and gloss retention (30 yrs+)
Resistant to Chemical Attack
Impact and Abrasion Resistant - exceeds ASTM Standards
Hydrophobic and Oleophobic Properties
Low VOC's as compared to conventional urethane coatings
Perhaps the most advanced chemistry in coating technology, this series of fluorinated polyurethane coatings provides protective properties that far surpass many high performance epoxy or conventional urethane systems.

Introducing fluorine into polyurethane resins brings about changes in properties similar to those seen when other polymers are fluorinated. Chemical, thermal, hydrolitic and oxidative stability are enhanced and the polymer becomes less permeable to oxygen. The surface of the coating becomes more biocompatible and less able to bond to substances in contact with them.
